I frequently get asked what I'm reading or watching, so I've decided to try a new series where I round up all the novels and movies I watched per month. This is the second month I'm trying out this new series, and I consumed a bit less media this month, but I felt like it was a quality > quantity kind month!
*Where to listen: I use the Libby App all the time which is free to everyone who has a library card. I also pay for Spotify and if you do you get 15 hours of an audiobook per month, so basically two shorter books or a book and a half.
*Where to read: I thrift a lot of my books, use the library a ton, download checked out Libby books to my kindle, and occasionally treat myself to a crisp new book from a book store as well.
*Where to watch: most everything I watch can be found on Hulu, Disney+, Prime, MAX, or Netflix.

Watched:
Nobody Wants This - So many people recommended this watch to me on last months post, and while yes, it was good, it did take me a minute to get into it. I honestly got the ick (to quote an episode lol) from the pilot episode. If it wasn't for everyone telling me to watch it I probably would have quit after episode 1. I got how it was cute, it could see where it was going, but for some reason the acting was so cringy to me! I love Adam Brody and Kristen Bell in other shows/movies, so this was a shocker to me, but idk, I just didn't like their chemistry... or lack there of IMO. I also felt like it was kinda weird that 44 year olds were playing ~34 year olds? Anyway, once I got past that and pushed through to episode 5 I became invested (specifically enjoyed Bina and the development between ***spoiler alert*** whore #2 and loser brother). They did confirm a season 2 and I will be watching but I will likely also be cringing. It's kinda like Emily In Paris, but EIP knows its cringy and I feel like NWT isnt gunning for that? Idk. Whatever, they're still getting my views and you should watch it too.
Harry Potter - Not a new watch, but I rewatch the series every year, so that took up a huge chunk of my "watch time," always a classic though.
Continuing to watch the new season of Only Murders In The Building!
I started a few new series, but haven't watched a ton of episodes yet, but I started: Doctor Odyssey, High Potential, and Harry Wild. I also got roped into DWTS purely because of the iconic Ilona. Watching it made me miss shows like this! I used to watch American Idol and AGT and those types of shows all the time, something about them is so nostalgic and feel-good.
Read:
Slow Dance, by Rainbow Rowell - I listened to this book on the Spotify during my road trip to Mendocino and it made the driving time flyyyyy by. I was invested. I also related to the book in way too many ways, so partially in my mind I was like "Ok so does it end good or bad for them?? Do they get together or not??" In a nutshell, the book is "will they wont they" following the lives of high school friends who always kinda had a thing for each other, had one weekend together after graduation, went their separate ways, reconnected, and are just awful at communication. If you have been in a similar non-relationship-relationship you will love this (and be anxious for them the whole time and comparing your own situationship the whole time). And even if you haven't you will love this book (narrator was good too, but I also kinda wanted to read it on paper at my own pace to pause and reflect... but maybe it's good that I didn't otherwise I feel like possible regretful texts may have been sent).
Sourdough: Or, Lois and Her Adventures in the Underground Market: A Novel by Robin Sloan - I read another one of this authors books, Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, a few years ago and enjoyed it so when I saw this one on the shelf at the library I thought I would give it a go. It was a bit slower of a read for me, yet still enjoyable. He took a very niche subject/plot and turned it into quite a charming story.
After those two, I hit a bit of a reading slump which was quite unfortunate. I stopped and started quite a few other books and am now in the middle of a few of them. No other major winners to report about this month, but if I finish any of the ones I'm currently in the middle of and I like them I'll add them to next months round up!
Thats it for October! Crossing fingers for more luck next month. Check at the end of November for new reccies and if you have any you'd like to share please drop them in the comments, thank you!
xx, Rose
